Meet Dan & Lisa Stigliano
Dan and Lisa Stigliano are busy professionals.
Lisa is a real estate agent and co-owner of Nashville On The Market Group and lives in Ashland City. Dan is GM and VP of Copperhead Chemical Company and lives in Franklin, but travels quote a bit for work.
Lisa initially reached out because she was concerned with her Dad’s weight gain and wanted to help him get healthy while also spending some time with him (plus she was getting married so why not look better in her dress!)
What she didn’t realize was how much she also needed help.
Dan and Lisa were coachable and consistent and have seen amazing results. 46lbs lost combined kinda results!
In addition, Lisa has gotten stronger (and feels great!) and Dan has seen his flexibility and balance improve – which he’s excited to see translate to the golf course once it warms up!
Q: What was your life like before joining the MUVFit Personal Training Program?
Lisa: Right before I joined MUVFit, I was eating whatever I felt like in the moment, drinking lots of wine, and only slightly active when I choose to be. I was sort of oblivious to how unhealthy I was.
Dan: Since I mostly work out of my house and travel about once a month, I lived a very sedentary life. Over the last two years, I gained significant weight and was starting to feel uncomfortable. My clothes did not fit well and I was having trouble with any activity that required stretching or bending. This was a problem because I like to play golf and enjoy time with my grandchild (now 2 grandchildren).
Q. Why did you decide to join the MUVFit program?
Lisa: Over the last year, I had started to notice my dad’s weight gain and was worried about his health. We decided to start doing weekly hikes but I quickly realized it wasn’t enough. I knew a couple of people who raved about MUVFit so I decided to reach out to Daniel for more info. I somehow managed to convince my dad to do it with me and we signed up. Overall, I joined with the intention of helping my dad get healthier, an excuse to spend more time with him and I have a wedding coming up so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to look a little better in my dress. Then at the consultation when we did the overall inbody tests – I was like shocked at the results of my body fat. I had no idea how unhealthy I was. I instantly changed my focus onto myself and how much I needed this for my life.
Dan: My daughter Lisa and I started hiking at Percy Warner Park this past summer to try to get into shape. I had used hiking as a method to lose weight in the past. She could see that we were not progressing quickly and realized we would have difficulty continuing a routine as we missed several days due to rain and my travel schedule and knew it would get worse when the weather got colder. She suggested MuvFit because her fiancee’s boss and his wife both worked out there, spoke highly of the place, and were getting results.
Q. What was your first impression of the MUVFit program?
Lisa: It was really challenging that first week but I was instantly obsessed with it. It felt really personalized – I think more than I expected it to be. And everyone was so nice, it was like a little community. I don’t think I ever felt awkward or unwelcome. I knew after the first week that this was exactly what I need. Within the first month, I had already seen pretty drastic results so I knew I wanted more.
Dan: I was immediately impressed with the Trainers and Staff who made us feel very welcome and were very encouraging. It was obvious that this was a multi-pronged program with emphasis not only on training and nutrition, but also sleep and recovery. I learned a lot about proper nutrition and was impressed that they took time out to analyze our Lifestyle Journals. In the first 5 weeks, I lost 10.8 lbs of body fat and started to feel better so I was sold.on MuvFit. .
Q. What have been some of the tools you have learned that have benefited you?
Lisa: To me, the personalized strength training plan and the personal nutrition guidance has benefitted me the most. The combination of the two is life changing. The weight training has allowed me to change my body both by losing fat and building muscle. I feel strong now, which is something I have never felt before. I, like most people, was clueless on how to eat right for me personally but with the help of my personal MUVFit coach we created a plan and now I feel like I know what works for me and what doesn’t.
Dan: The nutritional education has changed my diet. I did not realize the importance of protein especially right after a workout. My Coach gave me workouts that I could do on the road so even though I travel, I still work out 3 times a week. I have also learned how to exercise properly.
Q. How is MUVFit different from other programs you have tried before? What makes MUVFit different or unique?
Lisa: Before MUVfit, I had trained for two half marathons and a small triathlon with just group runs and nothing very structured. I had “thought” I was in shape – but the truth was I was not losing any fat or getting stronger. MUVFit is special because you really do get it all: you get personalized training with the perk of a supportive community around you AND nutrition and lifestyle guidance. It really gives you the chance to change your whole life and is not just a place to workout.
Dan: I have not done too many other programs. A short stint at the YMCA and my own hiking program that I did for 2 years that ended about 8 years ago when I married a good cook and our families kept us too busy. My impression is that MuvFit has a multi-pronged approach and they teach you that it will take dedication to both training and nutrition to meet your goals. They also have an excellent group of Trainers and Staff that are knowledgeable in all aspects of the program and who are constantly encouraging and coaching.
Q. Walk us through your journey. What results and benefits have you experienced at MUVFit?
Lisa: It was pretty quick my dad and I started seeing results. In the first month, I had already lost 7 pounds of body fat. And since I started at MUVFit about 5 months ago, I have lost more than 17 pounds of body fat which is a lot considering I’m only 5’1 and my favorite part I even gained muscle! I used to have a lot of problems sleeping and now I fall asleep and wake up with no problems. And there are like small changes I notice.. my skin is clearer, I can move better, groceries are easier to carry.. just a lot of small changes that add up.. AND I feel strong and I am excited to get stronger.
Dan: My goal was weight loss. Besides the 10.8 lbs of body fat I lost in the first month, I lost an additional 10.3 lbs of body fat in the second month and have lost a total of 26 lbs of body fat in the first 4 months. I feel much better in any activity that requires stretching or bending, my balance is definitely improved, my old clothes fit better and are starting to get loose, I have more energy throughout the day, and I am looking forward to the effect on my golf swing.
Q. What would you say to anyone looking at joining MUVFit?
Lisa: Do it and do it now. If you are ready for a change this is literally the best investment you will ever make. Also, if your hesitant to do it alone I’m sure you know someone else who could use it too… it’s a great way to spend more time together with family or friends!
Dan: If you are serious and committed to drastically improving your total fitness level, MuvFit is the place to be. If weight loss is your goal, I would make sure to budget in sufficient funds for a new wardrobe. 🙂
